Tell Us We're Wrong
Corrections are the most useful mail we get. Businesses close, hours change, and a lifeguard schedule we described last year may not be this year's.

Corrections
This site describes a town where restaurants close for the winter, lifeguard coverage shifts season to season, park hours contract, and transit timetables change. We write carefully and hedge where we're unsure — but some of it will still go stale.
If something here is wrong, tell us which page and what's wrong, and we'll fix it. We don't need you to be polite about it.
We're particularly keen to hear from people who live in Montauk year-round. This site is written to be useful to visitors, and the fastest way for it to become useless is for locals to stop reading it.
Advertising
We sell advertising to local Montauk businesses — placements above the affiliate content, on the pages where your customers are already looking. A charter captain on the fishing page. A motel on the lodging page. A surf shop where people are working out what wetsuit to bring.
What we sell:
- Featured placement on a relevant guide page, clearly marked
- Sponsorship of the monthly Off-Season Letter
- Nothing else, yet
Advertising never buys editorial. A business cannot pay to be recommended, cannot pay to be described more warmly, and cannot pay for a competitor to be removed. Paid placements are labelled as paid placements. If that makes us a worse business, so be it — it's the only reason anyone should trust a page like this.
If you run something in Montauk and want to talk, use the form above and pick Advertising. Tell us what you do and which page you think your customers are on.
How we make money
Two ways, and we'd rather you knew both.
Affiliate links. When you book a charter, a tour or a room through some of the links on this site, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. We only link to things we'd send a friend to, and we don't get paid more for recommending one thing over another.
Local advertising, as above — labelled, and separate from what we write.
We don't run display ads, we don't sell your email address, and there is nothing on this site that tracks you around the internet afterwards. See the privacy page for the specifics.
Who this is
An independent guide to Montauk. Not affiliated with the Town of East Hampton, the Chamber of Commerce, or any business named on these pages.
The writing here aims to be the thing we wished existed: specific, honest about the off-season, and willing to tell you that the famous place has a two-hour wait and the beach you've never heard of is empty.
